FAQ

🧽 How do I clean the Quenchy Cup?

The Quenchy Cup is dishwasher safe (top rack recommended). Its smooth, rounded design means there are no hidden corners for mould or residue to build up. For extra peace of mind, you can also use a small straw brush if you like, but it isn’t essential.

🛡️ Is the Quenchy Cup safe?

Absolutely. Quenchy was designed and manufactured to ISO safety standards and is made from food-grade silicone. The straw is soft and flexible, so it bends if a toddler falls while drinking.

💦 Does it really not leak?

Yes! The straw is fixed to the base and designed so it can’t be pulled out or pushed in. Combined with the clever flow control system, this means no spills or free-flowing leaks, even when the cup is turned upside down or left on its side.

👶 Why is the lid hard for toddlers to remove?

That’s deliberate! Toddlers love pulling lids off and tipping drinks everywhere. The Quenchy lid is secure enough to stop little hands, but easy for parents to remove when it’s time to refill or clean.

💷 Why is it more expensive than some cups?

Quenchy is made from quality, durable silicone (not cheap plastics) and designed to last. By solving the common frustrations like lost straws, leaky lids and constant spills it saves parents money, time, and stress in the long run.

🍼 What drinks can I use in it?

Water, milk, juice and other toddler combinations.  Quenchy works with all the usual toddler drinks. There’s no plastic taste and it doesn’t hold onto smells.

🥤 Can my toddler drink the full cup?

Yes! The Quenchy Cup is designed so the straw always reaches the bottom. To get the last drops, it works best when held upright using the handles. The handles guide little hands into the correct grip, helping toddlers drink independently while minimizing spills and waste.

♿ Is it suitable for all kids?

The cup can also be helpful for children with dexterity or grip challenges, as the straw and handles are designed for easier independent use.

🌈 Will there be other shapes or colours in the future?

Currently, the Quenchy Cup is one-of-a-kind, but we’d love to expand the range with new shapes, colours, and designs if it finds success with families. Beyond cups, we’re also excited about creating complimentary products that make life easier and more fun for parents and toddlers alike.

💧 Sometimes when I put the lid on, a little liquid squirts out of the straw, is that normal?
Yes, this can occasionally happen if you press the lid down quickly. The Quenchy Cup is fully sealed to make it completely leak-proof, so the straw is the only path for air and liquid to move. A quick press on the lid can temporarily push liquid up the straw.

👉 Quick tip: Putting the lid on more slowly will prevent this.

🔬 The technical reason (for the curious):
In designing Quenchy, we had to choose between two options:

  • Add a vent hole to release pressure (but this creates a leak path when the cup is tipped).
  • Keep the cup fully sealed (this avoids leaks, but means a quick lid press can push liquid out of the straw).

We chose the fully sealed route because most parents agreed that “no leaks” was the bigger win. A vent small enough to slow squirting still wouldn’t stop it completely and would also cause leaks. So this is a design trade-off that prioritises leak-proofing over the occasional squirt.

🧪 Want to experiment?
If you’d like to try a vented version, just let me know when placing your order and I’ll include two lids: the standard leak-proof design plus an experimental vented lid. That way you can compare both and see which works best for you.
